Ernesto's Good Grub is more than Tortilla Soup
I admit the tortilla soup is very good, just was selected #1 again by Reader's Choice. But there are other plates equally tasty. The chicken torta is moist & flavorful; there huevos rancheros are a little spicy but freshly prepared & hot. It is a great place for breakfast. The rib sauce is also very good.

Best Tortilla soup ever
My husband and I have been coming to PVR for 17 years. Three years ago some friends of ours took us there. All I can say is Fantastic! We both eat a small bowl and as others have said with the warm fresh chips and salsa it is plenty. We are trying the Ribs this evening as we have heard great things about it. Also have heard that the seafood salad is to die for. Will try that too on another visit there.

Most Excelent
The first year I was taken to Ernesto's it was by a friend from the states who was living in PV selling time shares. Argh! He took me there and the food was sensational Ernesto's girls were waitressing there and one of them had a pet Ocelot name Freddy! They had a parot as well but I think Freddy did a little dining out on his own and had him a delicious parot BBQ.They had a terhana that would come and visit and get a banana from Ernesto then leave. Last time I was there he was building his bar out front. I got the recipe from Ernesto who was so gracious to share. I took his fliers back to the Villa Del Mar and handed them out to everyone. The next night I went back for dinner I was unable to eat. I had handed out so many the people ate him out of house and home litterally as his business was in front of his home. We go there every time when back in PV Its the place to eat Spectacular quizine with a warm friendly athmosphere. Ill be back there again. I make the tortilla soup alot Bobby Capps Northern Calif

Tortilla Soup Rating
I first heard about Ernesto's Good Grub about 6 years ago and was told they have the best tortilla soup in PV bt the owner of the former Bananna Cantina Restaurant. I finally got there with my wife and another couple on January 22, 2011. We all had the tortilla soup (mediumm size bowl)and believe me it was a meal in itself. I love tortilla soup, all six of us do, and we all agreed it was by far the absolute best tortilla soup we had ever had anywhere, hands down, very thick, lots of tortllas, chicken, avacados and cheeze on top and just the right amount of zip to it. The soup along with the bread served with it and the nachos and salsa appetizer served gratis to all patrons is definitely a meal in itself. It is worth the trip to Ernesto's just for the tortilla soup. For smaller appetites Ernesto's offers a small bowl(still plentiful), and for very large appetites there is a large bowl (too much for most diners). We will be going back soon to try the baby back ribs which are also highy rated and at least one more time just for the soup on this year's vacation. You have to ty it, this from a regular PV vacationer from Winnipeg, Canada.
